Profile of H. E. Mr. Mehdi Hasan

Ambassador of Bangladesh to Sweden, Norway and Finland

H.E. Ambassador Mehdi Hasan is a career diplomat and a member of the Bangladesh Foreign Service.

In the course of his diplomatic career spanning over 26 years, Mr. Hasan has served in various capacities in Dhaka and Bangladesh Missions in New Delhi, Moscow and Bahrain. He also served as Consul General in Hong Kong.

Prior to his arrival in Sweden on 13 June 2022, he served in the Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Director General responsible for Administration. Earlier, he served as Director of the South Asia and the SAARC Wings in the Ministry.

Mr. Hasan graduated from the Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET). He also did a Masters in Water Resources Engineering from BUET, and later a Masters in International Relations in Paris. He completed Harvard Business School online certificate program on Global Business, Greening the Economy from Lund University, Sweden, and Politics and Economics of International Energy from Sciences Po University, Paris.  He underwent several professional trainings including in International Trade law, International Humanitarian law etc. Besides his mother tongue Bengali, he speaks English and French. Reading, sports and music are his leisure time activities.

He is married to Mrs. Shanjida Khanam and has one son and one daughter.
